Tourism: a driver for economic growth

A recent report from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) estimates international travel will rise from 1 billion to 3 billion by 2035. Not only has it become an issue to policy makers, but tourism continues to be one of the world’s largest industries, counting for one in every ten jobs on the planet, as well as being a key component of many nations’ GDP, developing and developed. Chambers of commerce have become more engaged in tourism issues recognising not only its links to local economic prosperity, but also its spin-offs for attracting investment and trade.
